Daily Image 2/28/11


1. What do you see? Describe what is happening.
I see a man who seems to be putting puzzle pieces of the reflection of the his surrounding on the ground. Or he could be taking them off.

2. What Colors, Shapes, and Lines?
The photo is in sepia color.
I see many squares, triangles and rectangles.
I see many straight horizontal, diagonal and vertical lines.

3. Write down 5 expressive words that relate to the image.
Accomplish, Fix, Establish, Root, Place.

4. Interpret the photograph. What is the meaning of the image?
The man could either be putting the pieces on the ground or he could be taking them up. The pieces already on the growing look like it was raining and there is a big puddle and it's reflecting the surrounding.

5. Explain how this image uses the Rules of Composition.
The Rule of Thirds: There really isn't a definite horizontal line. The man, which is placing or taking up the pieces, is close to a money spot.
Simplicity: The buildings make the background pretty clear and uncomplicated. The man is the point of interest.

Actual and Implied Lines: The pieces on the ground make actual horizontal and vertical lines. The Depth of field made by the buildings make implied diagonal lines.

1. What do you see? Describe what is happening.
I see a girl laying on the ground next to a puddle looking at the reflection of the sky in the puddle.

2. What Colors, Shapes, and Lines?
I see blue, green, white, cream, gray, black, and tan.
I see squares, triangles. and ovals.
I see many curved and straight, horizontal lines.

3. Write down 5 expressive words that relate to the image.
Artistry, Imagination, Pretend, Inspiration, Imagery.

4. Interpret the photograph. What is the meaning of this image?
I think the girl in the photograph is laying down next to the puddle with the reflection of the sky to imagine herself in the sky, as if she were flying.

5. How does this image use the Rules of composition?
The Rule of Thirds: The horizon line in the image is where the puddle meets the ground. The girl isn't in the money spots.

Simplicity: The ground makes the background clear and uncomplicated. The girl laying on the ground is the point of interest.

Actual and Implied Lines: The girl's body makes an implied horizontal line.

Adding Variety

1. Describe one technique listed that you really use. Give a specific example.
A technique I use is that I like to shoot a certain object from different angles It helps put different features in focus even thought it is of the same thing.

2. Describe two techniques you hadn't thought of using before.
I haven't thought to move my subject around and I haven't thought about avoiding the group shot blink.

3. Which technique listed will you try ti use next time you take photos.
I will try to mice my subject the next time I take photos, if my subject can move.

4. Why should you move around you subject.
You should move around your subject because it makes a good series oh photos.

5. Why is it a good idea to use continuous shoot?
It is a good idea to use continuous shots because it is better than taking one shot and it helps capture a moment better.

6. What is the one last tip, and how does it help you become a better photographer.
One last tip is that when you're taking many images, try to remember what you're doing because when you take picture using different settings, and u find a perfect picture, you can forget how you got that image.

Photo Planning

1. Describe in your own words what a "snap happy photographer" is.
A "snap happy photographer" is a photographer , not even holding the camera properly, and takes pictures from any angle not even paying attention to what they are doing and are pressing the shutter button over and over.

2. Describe what an "over planner" is.
An "over planner" is a photographer that tales forever to get the camera "just right." The can take hours just to position the camera.

3. Explain why either a snap hap photographer, or an over planner. Give one specific example of how you work.
I think I am a little of both photographers because at times when I don't feel like taking picture I can just stretch out my hand and take pictures of anything hoping that at least one picture comes out perfect and other times I can take forever to get the cameras just right to take a picture.

4. What are 2 questions listed in the article that you can use to help plan your photos better?
I can ask myself "if there is more than one subject" and "what is the mood of the moment?"

5. Why can taking too much time kill a creative moment?
Taking too much time to take a picture can kill the moment because you have to think ahead and determine whether u must asses the situation to take the picture or not.

6. Why is it important to ask yourself questions as you take photos?
It is important to ask yourself question when taking photographs so that you can take the best photos. When you was yourself question ahead then you know how the photo should be taken.

I think this photo shows how creative the mind is. The woman is looking at the image and it become alive in her mind.

I see a woman sitting at a table with a cookie in her hand, and a newspaper and a pen in her other hand. And her coffee spilled all over it, and she seems surprised. And he spilled coffee made the shape of a map of the world.

I see brown, tan, white, black, and red.
I see circles, squares, and triangles.
I see many straight, diagonal lines.

Surprised, Startled, Disturbed, Shocked, Abatract.

4. Interpret the photograph. What is the meaning of this image?
I think the lady was reading the newspaper and maybe doing a crossword puzzle, eating her cookie and then she accidentally knocked her coffee over and by the way her hands look, she might have been shocked that the spilt coffee took the form of the world map.

5. Explain how this image uses one of the Rules of Composition.
The Rule of Thirds: The horizon line in the image is hard to see. The newspaper and the lady's hand is in the money spots.
Simplicity: The table makes the background clear and uncomplicated. My eye tends to travel to the newspaper when I look at the image.

Depth of Field is the area or amount of a photograph that is in focus.


2. What is the difference between Large Depth of Field and Small Depth of Field?
Large Depth of Field is when there is a LARGE portion of the image in focus, and Small Depth of Field is when there is a SMALL portion of the image is in focus.

I think photo is about that organization that gives a child in Africa a laptop whenever a child in America buys one. This might be the set of a commercial.

I think this photograph represents everyone's search for their purpose in life. I say this because the two boys in the photo seem to be looking for something just as how human must search for their purpose in this world.

The Rule of Thirds: The area in the image where the grass meets the stone wall makes a horizon line. The pillar from the bridge is in the money spots.
